MEET Dr. Sarah Nguyen

Dr. Sarah Nguyen is a board-certified periodontist and past president of the Oregon Society of Periodontics. With 15 years of specialty experience in the Portland area — including more than a decade at an established local private specialty practice — she is dedicated to delivering advanced periodontal and implant care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

A Portland native, Dr. Nguyen graduated cum laude from Pacific Lutheran University, where she was a collegiate athlete in both soccer and tennis. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Oregon Health & Science University as a recipient of the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship.

During her active-duty service in Kaiserslautern, Germany, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency, where she developed a strong interest in surgical and complex restorative care. She later returned to OHSU to complete her three-year specialty residency in Periodontology.

Her clinical focus includes dental implants, laser-assisted periodontal regeneration, soft tissue grafting, and comprehensive management of periodontal disease. She values clear communication and works closely with general dentists to support thoughtful treatment planning and long-term patient success.

Known for her calm demeanor and meticulous surgical technique, Dr. Nguyen strives to make even complex procedures feel well-supported and understandable. She remains committed to maintaining strong professional relationships throughout the Portland dental community while providing individualized specialty care within a comprehensive practice setting.

Outside of the office, she enjoys staying active in the Pacific Northwest and spending time with her family and many pets.
